Mike Rhoades got a great hire on Thursday, adding Jeremy Ballard from Pittsburgh as its next associate head coach. The Panthers have already faced three departures in the last two weeks, and Ballard will be the fourth. Ballard spent time as an assistant coach at VCU from 2012-2015, and he worked alongside Rhoades during that time. Since he was last on staff with the Rams, Ballard has been an assistant at both Illinois State and Pittsburgh.
VCU’s Mike Rhoades will hire Pitt’s Jeremy Ballard as an assistant coach, per a source. Ballard was previously at VCU under Shaka Smart.

Mike Rhoades is doing a nice job bringing back familiarity to the VCU program and finding guys that understand the culture at VCU. In order to make an 8th consecutive NCAA Tournament next season, it’s going to take a team effort. Rhoades has done a great job keeping recruits and ensuring this fanbase that he’ll represent them well.
