William and Mary transfer Trey Moss has committed to GW, the third player to commit in the last three days.
The Revs continue their red-hot week in the transfer portal by bringing in a likely starter in Trey Moss. For William and Mary, Moss averaged 13.5 points on 41% shooting from the field. He was ranked 16th in the CAA in scoring and scored in double figures in 26 of 33 games played. The rising junior ranked 10th in the CAA in free throw percentage, and 13th in minutes per game.
Coming out of high school, Moss was a three-star prospect who chose USF over offers from major programs such as Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Dayton, and Temple.
Following two seasons in Tampa where Moss did not see much playing time, he redshirted his sophomore season. Moss transferred to William and Mary, where he improved his scoring from 1.8 to 13.5 points in one season. This large-scale improvement led to a lot of high major interest for the sophomore guard in the transfer portal.
Moss will be another athletic and exciting player to have in Foggy Bottom, helping ease the burden of scoring lost with the graduation of James Bishop.
“I feel like I’m a very athletic player,” said Trey Moss in an exclusive A10 Talk interview. “I can get to the rim, you know, create for my teammates, and impact the game on both ends of the floor.”
Once again, the coaching staff and players have left a major positive impression on recruits taking visits to Foggy Bottom. Coaches have been able to lay out clear plans on the fit and role of the player within the GW system, as well as the city of DC.
“I met with some of the guys on the team, I met with the entire staff. I see the vision,” said Moss. “It sounds great, great area, great community. Great staff, you know, it’s hard to turn that down.”
GW was able to see Moss up close this season, in a 95-89 victory for the Revs over the Tribe. Coach Caputo and company were able to hold Moss to 11 points, but he was able to add five assists and four rebounds to his stat sheet. His time at the Smith Center surely left an impression.
“It was a great atmosphere, you know, a great fan base, you know, it was a great, great, great vibe to be around all together.”
With the improvement of Moss this season, he was a hot name in the transfer portal. GW was among a fellow A10 school and high major schools in the final running for Moss.
He chose George Washington over Butler, La Salle, Oregon State.
“I would say, you know, just the culture. I could kind of feel that togetherness within the staff and the guys within the team, you know, just kind of felt like one close family.”
Moss has high aspirations for his career in Foggy Bottom.
“You know, it’s great to be around that atmosphere, win games, win the A-10”
