For just the second time since Temple left the Atlantic 10 to join the American Athletic Conference, Fran Dunphy’s Owls will face George Washington. Temple will host the Colonials in December of this year, and will return the game to GW at the 2017 BB&T Classic at the Verizon Center in Washington DC.

Temple leads the all-time series 53-16, and defeated the Colonials in the 2015 NIT Second Round, 90-77. The last time George Washington beat Temple, however, was in 2007. Carl Elliot recorded the first triple-double in program history that day, recording 17 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in GW’s 84-72 win. Since then, the Owls have beaten GW seven-consecutive times.
Last season, Temple posted a 21-12 record, and received a 10-seed in the NCAA Tournament, before falling to 7-seed Iowa, 72-70 in the First Round. The highlight of the year for the Owls came when they became the first team to beat then-#8 SMU, 89-80 on January 24th.
