Each week, A10 Talk’s staff ranks each team in the Atlantic 10 conference (1-14) based on where they believe each team places overall. Each team’s ranking is averaged, and A10 Talk creates a compiled ranking to represent the site. 13 different contributors vote in each week’s rankings. Here are this week’s power rankings.
1. VCU Rams (Avg: 1.13)
The Rams retain the top spot, though they are no longer the unanimous choice. They took down Davidson on the road in the only game they played this past week; they’re now 8-0 in Atlantic 10 play. This week, they’ll travel to play La Salle on Wednesday and then return home to take George Washington on Saturday.
2. Dayton Flyers (Avg: 2.25)
The Flyers stay in the two spot this week as they won both games they played. The Flyers beat Saint Louis and La Salle in pretty convincing fashion, both games coming at home. The Flyers will stay in one of the easier portions of their schedule this week, as the only team they’ll face will be George Mason on the road on Saturday.
3. St. Joseph’s Hawks (Avg: 2.75)
St. Joseph’s moves up to the 3 spot this week after winning both games they played. The Hawks took down Massachusetts and Rhode Island and improve to 18-3 on the season. They’ll have a chance to stay hot this week when they take on St. Bonaventure on Wednesday at home and Fordham on the road on Saturday.
4. St. Bonaventure (Avg: 4.50)
The Bonnies move up to the 4 spot this week after winning the only game they played. St. Bonaventure was able to get past Richmond on Sunday, improving to 5-3 in the Atlantic 10. This week, they’ll have a tough game against St. Joseph’s on the road on Wednesday and then a home game against Saint Louis on Sunday.
5. George Washington Colonials (Avg: 4.63)
George Washington moves back into the 5 spot this week after it lost a double overtime thriller to Richmond at home and then beat George Mason on the road. They now sit at 5-3 in the A-10 conference. They’ll have a home matchup against Davidson on Wednesday and a road contest against VCU on Saturday.
6. Davidson Wildcats (Avg: 6.63)
Davidson moves up into the 6 spot this week after going 1-1 on the week. The Wildcats got a nice road win over Richmond but fell short to VCU at home. The Wildcats stand at 4-4 in the conference. They’ll have a difficult week as they go on the road to take on George Washington on Wednesday and Duquense on Saturday.
7. Rhode Island Rams (Avg: 7.38)
The Rams fall back into the 7 spot this week after going 1-1. They easily took down Fordham but were unable to beat St. Joseph’s, both games coming at home. They’re now 4-4 in the A-10. This week, they’ll get two road games; they’ll take on Massachusetts on Tuesday and then La Salle on Saturday.
8. Richmond Spiders (Avg: 7.88)
The Spiders fall back into the 8 spot this week after going 1-1 on the week. Richmond failed to take down Davidson at home but managed to get a huge double overtime victory over George Washington. Now at 3-5 in the conference, the Spiders will have home games this week against George Mason on Wednesday and Massachusetts on Saturday.
9. Duquesne Dukes (Avg: 8.00)
The Dukes stay in the 9 spot after winning both games they played this past week. They took down La Salle at home and Saint Louis on the road. Duquesne is now 5-4 in the Atlantic 10 conference and has been on a roll recently. They’ll play one game this week: a home game against Davidson on Saturday.
10. Fordham Rams (Avg: 10.38)
The Rams stay in the 10 spot this week as they managed to win 1 of the 2 games they played. The Rams lost to Rhode Island on the road but got an overtime victory on the road against Massachusetts. They stand at 3-6 in conference play. They’ll play just one game this week: a home contest against St. Joseph’s on Saturday.
11. Saint Louis Billikens (Avg: 10.75)
The Billikens move up into the 11 spot this week despite losing both games they played. Saint Louis lost tough games to Duquesne and Dayton this past week but still stands at 2-6 in Atlantic 10 play. They’ll try to bounce back this week when they take on St. Bonaventure on the road on Sunday.
12. UMass Minutemen (Avg: 12.25)
The Minutemen fall back into the 12 spot this week after losing both games they played. They lost to St. Joseph’s and Fordham and have now lost 6 in a row. Massachusetts stands at 1-7 in conference play. They’ll look to bounce back this week when they host Rhode Island on Tuesday and travel to play Richmond on Saturday.
13. George Mason Patriots (Avg: 12.75)
George Mason moves up to the 13 spot this week despite losing the only game it played. The Patriots lost a tight one at home to George Washington, and it now sits at 1-7 in conference play. Things won’t get much easier this week for the Patriots when they go on the road to face Richmond on Wednesday and host Dayton on Saturday.
14. La Salle Explorers (Avg: 13.88)
La Salle falls back into the 14 spot this week after it lost both games it played. The Explorers lost on the road to Duquesne and Dayton this past week and now stand at 1-7 in conference play. This week, they’ll host VCU on Wednesday and then Rhode Island on Saturday.
