Each week, Hoop Ten Harbor’s staff ranks each team in the Atlantic 10 conference (1-14) based on where they believe each team places overall. Each team’s ranking is averaged, and Hoop Ten Harbor creates a compiled ranking to represent the site. 9 different contributors vote in each week’s rankings. Here are this week’s power rankings.
1. VCU Rams (Avg: 1.38)
The Rams moved into first place in our power rankings after they were able to take down Fordham and Richmond this past week. The Rams have now won 8 straight games and hold the top spot in the conference standings. This week, they’ll have a home stand featuring games against Duquesne on Wednesday and St. Bonaventure on Saturday.
2. Dayton Flyers (Avg: 1.63)
The Flyers fall into the number 2 spot this week despite winning both games it played. Dayton took down Davidson and George Washington this past week, both games in Ohio. Despite the recent home stand, the Flyers will go on the road again this week when they take on St. Bonaventure on Tuesday and Fordham on Sunday.
3. George Washington Colonials (Avg: 3.38)
George Washington falls into the 3 spot this week after it won one out of two games it played. The Colonials won on the road against UMass but fell just short to Dayton. They find themselves at 3-2 in the conference. They’ll return home to face Rhode Island on Friday, their only game this week.
4. St. Joseph’s Hawks (Avg: 3.88)
The Hawks drop into the 4 spot this week, though they did manage to win both games they played. St. Joseph’s took down George Mason on the road and Fordham at home. This next week, they’ll have an out-of-conference game at Penn on Wednesday, and then they’ll return to the A10 when they face La Salle on the road on Saturday.
5. St. Bonaventure (Avg: 4.75)
The Bonnies stay in the 5 spot this week despite having their undefeated conference streak snapped this past weekend. St. Bonaventure took down Rhode Island but then lost a tough game to Duquesne. They’ll have a tough schedule this week as they host Dayton on Tuesday and go on the road to face VCU on Saturday.
6. Rhode Island Rams (Avg: 6.63)
The Rams move up into the 6 spot this week after going 1-1 in the games they played. Rhode Island lost at St. Bonaventure but rebounded with a nice win over La Salle. This week, the Rams will go on the road to face George Washington on Friday; it’s the only game that either team plays this week.
7. Davidson Wildcats (Avg: 7.25)
The Wildcats had a nice showing this week as they managed to jump up to the 7 spot in our rankings. Davidson got edged on the road by Dayton but managed to follow that up with a win over UMass. They’ll go on the road this week to take on Saint Louis on Wednesday and then Richmond on Saturday.
8. Richmond Spiders (Avg: 8.00)
Richmond drops down to the 8 spot this week after winning 1 out of 2 games. The Spiders were able to cruise past La Salle but failed to beat their crosstown rivals on their own court. They fall to 2-3 in the conference. Richmond has one game this week: a home matchup against Davidson this Saturday.
9. Duquesne Dukes (Avg: 8.38)
The Dukes move up into the 9 spot after a fairly impressive week. They were able to take down Saint Louis and end the Bonnies’ undefeated run in the Atlantic 10. They grab their first conference wins and move to 2-3 in the A10. Duquesne will go on the road twice this week: it’ll play VCU pm Wednesday and George Mason on Saturday.
10. Fordham Rams (Avg: 10.13)
The Rams drop down into the 10 spot this week after losing two road games. Fordham got crushed in both contests and is now struggling as it sits at 1-4 in conference play. They’ll return home this week though, and they’ll try to redeem themselves when they face George Mason on Wednesday and Dayton on Sunday.
11. UMass Minutemen (Avg: 10.75)
The Minutemen fall back into the 11 spot this week after losing both games they played. They lost to George Washington and Davidson and now sit at 1-4 in conference play. This week, they’ll get a home matchup against Saint Louis on Saturday; it will be the only game that UMass plays this week.
12. La Salle Explorers (Avg: 12.38)
The Explorers stay in the 12 spot this week despite losing both of its contests. La Salle was unable to come away with a victory when it traveled to face Richmond and Rhode Island. This week, they’ll take on an out-of-conference team, Temple, on Wednesday. They’ll follow that up with a home game against St. Joseph’s on Saturday.
13. Saint Louis Billikens (Avg: 13.13)
The Billikens retain the 13 spot this week after dropping both of its games. They lost on the road to Duquesne and then allowed George Mason to come to town and get a road win. They’ll try to rebound when they face Davidson on Wednesday and Massachusetts on Saturday.
14. George Mason Patriots (Avg: 13.38)
The Patriots stay in the 14 spot this week, though they were able to pick up their first conference win of the season. They lost to St. Joseph’s earlier in the week but beat Saint Louis on the road on Sunday. This week, they’ll have a road matchup with Fordham on Wednesday, and then they’ll return home to take on Duquesne on Saturday.
