Richmond Spiders 70, Texas Tech Red Raiders 85
Despite boasting five players in double-figures, Richmond came up short against Texas Tech, falling to 8-4 on the season. The Red Raiders got off to a hot start and took a twelve point lead at halftime. Devaugntah Williams led Tech with 17 points and 8 rebounds. ShawnDre’ Jones led the Spiders with 16.
Richmond was out-rebounded by the Red Raiders 43-20, much in part due to their lack of size in the frontcourt. While the Spiders did shoot 44.6% from the field, Texas Tech was simply better in every phase of the game. In this instance, pure talent won out.
Richmond begins A10 play when they take on St. Joe’s this Friday. The Spiders will look to rebound when they take on one of the better teams in the Atlantic 10 in St. Joseph’s. The Hawks enter conference play with a 10-2 record and certainly will give Richmond a run for its money.

Duquesne Dukes 67, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 73
Duquesne put up a very good fight against a talented Georgia Tech team on Tuesday night. Despite leading by 1 at the halftime break, the Dukes were unable to hold off the Yellow Jackets to pull a huge upset. Micah Mason led them in scoring with 17 points, and Georgia Tech’s Marcus Georges-Hunt led all scores with 20. Next up for Duquesne will be a home game against Dayton to start Atlantic 10 conference play for both teams.
Long Island Blackbirds 79, Massachusetts Minutemen 83
The Minutemen were able to hang on late in the game and avoid what would’ve been a huge upset against Long Island on Tuesday night. The Blackbirds began building a lead in the second half, but Massachusetts, led by Trey Davis’ 25 points, climbed back in the game and secured a win. Long Island was led by Jerome Frink with 21 points. The Minutemen open conference play on Saturday with a road game at La Salle.
St. Joseph’s Hawks 78, Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks 68
St. Joseph’s moves to 10-2 after grabbing a win over Maryland-Eastern Shore, though the visiting Hawks kept it close for most of the game. St. Joseph’s only led by three at the break, but DeAndre Bembry and company helped lead the Hawks to a 10 point victory at home. Bembry played great for St. Joseph’s with 15 points and 9 rebounds though Isaiah Miles was its leading scorer with 17; Devin Martin led all scores with 23. Next up for St. Joseph’s is a road matchup against Richmond.
George Washington Colonials 67, UCF Knights 50
The Colonials improve to 11-2 after getting a very solid road win over UCF. George Washington shot 52% from the floor and was led by Patricio Garino with 17. UCF struggled to get anything going on the offensive end as they shot just 35% from the field. The Colonials open conference play Sunday at home against Fordham.
Saint Louis Billikens 47, Kansas State Wildcats 75
Saint Louis struggles yet again as it picks up its 4th consecutive loss and 7th loss in its last 8 games. Needless to say, the Billikens are really searching for a victory at this point. They’ll have a chance to get one this Saturday when they open conference play at Rhode Island. The Billikens shot just 33% from the floor and 18% from three in their road loss to Kansas State. Milik Yarbrough led Saint Louis with 12 points.
