12-34-2 might even be optimistic haha. Although with 3 wins they are already a quarter of the way there!
The four WNY schools really need to work something out with the Pegulas. It’s really dumb to not have an annual doubleheader over a holiday weekend. Bona/Canisius and UB/Niagara one year; Bona/Niagara and UB/Canisius the next. If it was a known entity annually, it would draw decently. Just sell tickets in the lowest bowl.
One way or another, we need an OOC game in Rochester and Buffalo every season. It’s just good business for the school.
No, I like the regional franchise. One game in Rochester, one in downtown Buffalo (against someone not named Canisius, Niagara or SUNY-Amherst). Now that's dependent on who you can get and what you've got to pay for the facility, and that's the rub.
Some poster on the Bandwagon said about 15-20 years ago that if Bona could return to some semblance of past glories, it would be considered by the locals to be "closer to downtown Buffalo than Canisius." The point being, of course, that it could dominate the Buffalo market as in days of yore. Perhaps an overstatement, but I'm inclined to agree.
There are over 2 million people in those combined metros ripe for the taking, college basketball-wise. A few more eyeballs on the screen, maybe a couple of hundred more applications, who knows. But, that's a start.
Well, to be fair, they do typically play a rotating doubleheader every year at the Pacers' arena. It's normally Indiana, Butler, Notre Dame, and Purdue.Does the Indiana AD get pressure from IU alums to play home games 1hr 30min away in Indianapolis? Are Penn St alums telling their AD they need to try to play some games in Harrisburg?
Can see it now, a Christmas tourney: Ball St v. IU, IUPUI & Fort Wayne St. at the Pacers arena. The IU AD better get on that
You should apply a fresh coat of bannedwagon to your posts in this thread, BR. You forgot to mention a random 1970s game against Niagara at the Aud. Or how a day/night hoops doubleheader featuring Canisius and Buff State used to draw a packed house in the 60s. Perhaps an anti-boomer rant? Or anti-millennial. So many possibilities.
tastylicks coming in hot.
IU also doesn't have 1800 undergrads in a town of 13,000 people.
IU has 100x the amount of alums we have. Penn State the same. We need to grow interest in the program. Not keep it the same. Bona is finally getting back to the attendance figures they routinely had before and slightly after the scandal.Does the Indiana AD get pressure from IU alums to play home games 1hr 30min away in Indianapolis? I'm OK with not playing NU or CC away from the Reilly Center. Those games in Buffalo are not well attended and we have to pay a lot more $$ to play at Key Bank than Blue Cross.F the Pegulas. We especially dont need to kiss their asses so we can play Niagara once a year in their building. sheesh
You brought up the Hoosiers, not I.they dont have a top 20 program either
How dare you poke holes in a point someone else made? You brought up the Hoosiers, not I.
