On a record-setting afternoon, the St. Louis University Billikens built a big first-half lead and never looked back against Loyola Chicago, ending up with a 31-point victory, 98-67. Before a home crowd of more than 8,000, SLU made a school-record 18 3-pointers, with Gibson Jimerson draining a school-record nine treys (9-of-17). Jimerson’s 33 points tied a career high, and his nine 3-pointers are the most by an A-10 player this season.
Junior center Robbie Avila added 28 points for the Billikens, including 3 three-pointers and going 13-15 from the free-throw line. Senior Isaiah Swope added 12 points, and freshman Amari McCottry added 10 points for SLU.
The win moved St. Louis into a three-way tie for third in the A-10 with Loyola Chicago, Saint Joseph’s, and Dayton.
