Ray FlorianiBy Ray FlorianiMarch 7, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

Second round action of the A10 Women’s Tournament at Henrico Sports and Events Center saw two upsets. Duquesne, a ninth seed, knocked off eighth  seeded Fordham. Saint Louis kept their season alive as the Billikens, a 10th seed, defeated seventh seeded UMass.

Duquesne 79 Fordham 63

The Rams defeated Duquesne twice in the regular season by a combined total of five points. Duquesne wasted no time avenging those losses. They built a 15-4 lead by the first media timeout. A high octane offensive performance saw the Dukes build a commanding 20-point lead in the first half. For the game Duquesne rang up a 57% eFG mark en route to an offensive efficiency of 113. Nine players scored for Duquesne with Jerni Kiaku’s 21 points leading the way.

Rhode Island 52 George Washington 41

Following the offensive display of the first contest, Rhode Island used their lock down defense to stop the Revolutionaries. The Rams had lost their final regular season matchup with GW. This time Tammi Reiss’s group held the Revs to a 68 offensive efficiency. They also forced 18 turnovers while committing six. GW’s Mikayla Anderson led all scorers with 14 points.

Saint Louis 67 Umass 57

The Billikens dropped a 17-point decision to UMass at the Mullins Center back on January 2nd. Coach Rebecca Tillett’s group earned their revenge to earn their second tournament win in two days. The 82 possession affair saw the Bills finish with an 80-71 advantage in offensive efficiency. Brooklyn Gray paced the Bills with a 30-point six rebound effort. Saint Louis led by six at the half then went on to extend the lead to 17 following three periods.

Dayton 60 La Salle 45

The Explorers, energized by their buzzer-beating win over VCU a day earlier, trailed by three at intermission. Dayton quickly opened the third stanza with a run that extended the advantage to 10 points entering the final ten minutes. La Salle was held to a 63 offensive efficiency. On the night The Explorer’s 37-21 edge in offensive rebounding percentage was offset by their 31% eFG mark. The Flyers placed four in double figures. Ivy Wolf led the way for Dayton with 14 points, tying La Salle’s Mackenzie Daleba for game scoring honors.
