The Massachusetts Minutewomen (13-10, 8-4 Atlantic 10) defeated the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (5-18, 1-11 Atlantic 10) 81-54 on Wednesday night’s game honoring the Play for Kay Cancer Fund.

At the start, the Bonnies were hot from behind the arc to help get them started. The Minutewomen responded to that by attacking the hoop on top of making shots from behind the arc. UMass found themselves up by ten points at the end of both the first and second quarters, and it looked like they were the better team through one half. Coming out of halftime, St. Bonaventure found shots that were going in and managed to cut the lead down to one point and would also tie the game at forty-three points. The Minutewomen then responded and held them to just eleven points for the rest of the game. UMass was able to sweep their season series with St. Bonaventure to help them stay in contention for a double-bye position.

The Bonnies had three players in double-figure scoring on Wednesday night. Dani Haskell led the way with 13 points, and Hannah Richardson and Zoe Shaw each had 11 points to round out scorers in double-digits. Macy Smith had 7 points, Mackenzie Pettenelli had 6 points, Caitlin Frost had 4 points, and Gabby Robinson Forde had 2 points to round out the scorers for St. Bonaventure.

The Minutewomen had four players in double-figure scoring on Wednesday night. Yahmani McKayle tied her career-high 21 points with 5 assists and 4 rebounds, Allie Palmieri had 12 points and 4 rebounds, Lilly Ferguson had a career-high 11 points to go with 6 rebounds, and Megan Olbrys had 10 points, a career-high 8 assists, and 5 rebounds for scorers in double-digits. Aleah Sorrentino had 8 points, Kasey Bretones had a career-high 7 points, Stefanie Kulesza had 7 points and 4 rebounds, Dallas Pierce had 3 points, and Jess Ross had 2 points

The Bonnies return home to the Reilly Center to face the George Washington Revolutionaries (9-13, 2-9 Atlantic 10) on Saturday, February 8th at 1pm. The Minutewomen continue the home stand against the Davidson Wildcats (12-11, 7-4 Atlantic 10) on Saturday, February 8th at 1pm.
