On Wednesday night, the Massachusetts Minutewomen (11-10, 6-4 Atlantic 10) defeated the George Washington Revolutionaries (8-12, 1-8 Atlantic 10) 71-54.

UMass managed to get the ball rolling early, going on a seventeen-to-two run for four minutes of the first quarter, which forced George Washington to call a timeout. The Minutewomen had the momentum for big periods of the game, and the Revolutionaries could not find ways to respond to their runs. George Washington head coach Caroline McCombs would try to call timeouts to slow UMass down, but the Minutewomen would find ways to get the ball to fall in response.

The Revolutionaries had two players in double-figure scoring on Wednesday night. Makayla Andrews had 14 points and 6 rebounds and Maxine Engel had 11 points for scorers in double-digits. Miriam Diala and Gabby Reynolds each had 8 points, Kamari Sims had 7 points, Filipa Calisto had 5 points, and Paige Mott had 1 point to round out scorers for George Washington.

UMass had five players in double-figure scoring on Wednesday night. Stefanie Kulesza had 17 points and 8 rebounds, Megan Olbrys had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Yahmani McKayle had 12 points, and Chinenye Odenigbo and Allie Palmieri each had 10 points to round out scorers in double digits. Momo LaClair had 4 points and Jess Ross had 2 points to round out all scorers for the Minutewomen.

The Revolutionaries head home to face the Saint Joseph’s Hawks (17-4, 8-2) on Saturday, February 1st at 2pm. UMass hits the road to face the La Salle Explorers (8-15, 2-8 Atlantic 10) on Sunday, February 2nd at 2pm.
