VCU freshman Brandon Jennings brings the ball up the court.

Joe Bamisile’s season-high 23 points and 11 rebounds powered VCU to a decisive 66-47 win over the visiting Penn Quakers on Monday night at the Stuart C. Siegel Center. The Rams (8-2) never relinquished their lead after surging ahead late in the first half, securing their fourth straight victory in dominant fashion.

Game Highlights

Bamisile’s all-around performance marked his third career double-double and second 20-point effort of the season. He set the tone early, scoring 13 of his points in the first half to help VCU establish a 36-25 advantage at the break.

Max Shulga contributed 14 points and seven rebounds, connecting on 6-of-11 shots from the field, including two 3-pointers. Phillip Russell added nine points and a season-high seven assists, while Jack Clark provided a defensive presence with 10 rebounds and six points.

For Penn (3-7), Ethan Roberts led the way with 14 points, and Nick Spinoso added 12 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Despite their efforts, the Quakers struggled against VCU’s stifling defense and dominant rebounding.

By the Numbers

• Defensive Dominance: VCU held Penn to 36% shooting from the field and just 19% from 3-point range. This marked the fourth time this season the Rams have limited an opponent to under 20% from deep.

• Rebounding Edge: The Rams dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Quakers 45-29. VCU grabbed 18 offensive rebounds, resulting in a 20-3 advantage in second-chance points.

• Consistent Leadership: VCU led for over 38 minutes, showcasing control on both ends of the court.

What’s Next

The Rams hit the road for a neutral-site matchup against Colorado State on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Lee’s Family Forum in Las Vegas. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., with live streaming available on BallerTV.

VCU will aim to extend their win streak and continue their strong non-conference showing against a tough Colorado State team.
