The Massachusetts Minutewomen (4-6, 0-0 Atlantic 10) narrowly lost to the Boston College Eagles (8-4, 1-0 Atlantic Coastal Conference) 62-57 on Wednesday morning. The Eagles hold a 15-4 series lead over the Minutewomen.
UMass started with a big amount of momentum through the first two quarters and looked like they could pull off a shocker in Conte Forum on Wednesday morning. Stefanie Kulesza started UMass with back-to-back three-pointers which helped them gain momentum early. The Eagles never let the lead get larger than 8 points, and Boston College should be grateful they were able to earn the home win against the Minutewomen due to UMass not making a field goal for 6 minutes in the fourth quarter. This game as a whole can be a great look ahead to what we could see from the Minutewomen with conference play almost around the corner.
UMass had three players in double-figure scoring on Wednesday morning. Yahmani McKayle led the way with 14 points and 3 assists, Kulesza had 12 points, and Megan Olbrys had 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists to round out the scorers in double-digits. Allie Palmieri had 7 points, Momo LaClair had 6 points, Chinenye Odenigbo had 4 points and 4 rebounds, and Lilly Ferguson had 3 points and 6 rebounds to round out all scorers for the Minutewomen.
The Minutewomen travel to the University of Massachusetts Lowell Riverhawks (2-8, 0-0 America East) on Friday, December 20th at 1pm. This will be the eighth meeting between these two teams, and the Minutewomen have a 6-1 lead over the Riverhawks.
