The Massachusetts Minutewomen (2-3, 0-0 Atlantic 10) lost to the Holy Cross Crusaders (3-2, 0-0 Patriot League) 75-70 on Wednesday night. The Minutewomen still hold a 14-12 lead over the Crusaders in the all-time series history.
UMass had a close game from the start with Holy Cross on Wednesday night. The Minutewomen started to pull away with the lead through a strong first quarter with great plays from Lilly Ferguson and Momo LaClair less than a minute apart. The Crusaders then came back to tie the game going into halftime, but UMass started the third quarter strong and regained the lead going into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Minutewomen found themselves in a scoring drought early, which led to the Crusaders taking the lead and picking up the win against UMass.
The Minutewomen had four players in double-figure scoring on Wednesday night. Stefanie Kulesza had 14 points and 10 rebounds, Megan Olbrys had 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists, Allie Palmieri had 12 points and 6 rebounds, and Aleah Sorrentino had 11 points and 3 rebounds to round out scorers in double-digit scoring. Yahmani McKayle had 9 points, Lilly Ferguson had 6 points and 4 rebounds, Momo LaClair had 3 points and 4 rebounds, and Jess Ross had 1 point to round out all scorers for UMass.
UMass closes out their five-game homestand against the Army West Point Black Knights (5-1, 0-0 Patriot League) on Saturday, November 23rd at 1pm. This will be the third time these two teams meet, and the Minutewomen have a 2-0 lead over the Black Knights.
