VCU Lands Homegrown Talent Silas Barksdale

Matt MortonBy Matt MortonSeptember 6, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

The VCU Rams have secured a major first commitment for their 2025 recruiting class, as three-star center Silas Barksdale has officially pledged his allegiance to the program.

Barksdale, a standout from Woodside, Virginia, has been a force on the AAU circuit with Boo Williams. His impressive performance at Peach Jam, averaging a double-double with 10.0 points and 11.6 rebounds per game, caught the attention of college coaches nationwide.

The 6-foot-8 big man’s decision to join VCU was influenced by the coaching staff’s genuine connection and belief in his abilities. Head coach Ryan Odom’s emphasis on player development and allowing players to showcase their talents was a major factor in Barksdale’s choice.

Barksdale’s addition to the Rams’ roster provides a strong foundation for the future. His combination of size, skill, and work ethic will be a valuable asset to the program. VCU is also actively recruiting other top prospects, including Chance Mallory, Jake West, and Matt Gilhool, as they aim to maintain a competitive team in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

With Barksdale on board, VCU fans can look forward to exciting times ahead as the Rams continue to ascend in the college basketball landscape.
