The Massachusetts Minutewomen (1-9, 0-0 A-10) dropped their ninth straight game on the road against the Boston College Eagles (5-5, 0-0 ACC) 95-57 on Wednesday night. The Eagles now lead in the all-time series history 13-4.
Going into the game on Wednesday night, the Minutewomen were without Tori Hyduke due to injury dropping the amount of available scholarship players down to eight yet again. The Minutewomen then lost Bre Bellamy midway through the third quarter due to a blow to the head going for a loose ball. “[Bre] was ruled out for the game, and seems to be doing fine after the game,” Coach Mike Leflar said about Bellamy’s injury. We did get to see freshman walk-on Avery Childers make her Minutewomen debut late in the fourth quarter. Mikenzie Jones and Alexsia Rose have been suited up the past two games and could make their debuts on December 10th.
UMass had three players in double-digit scoring on Wednesday night. Jermany Mapp led the Minutewomen in scoring with 14 points, Lilly Taulelei had 12 points, and Stefanie Kulesza had 11 points to round out all scorers in double figures. Kristin Williams had 9 points, Chinenye Odenigbo had 7 points, and Lilly Ferguson had 4 points to round out all scorers.
Taulelei posted her third consecutive game in scoring double digits. This stretch dates back to when she earned her career high against Maryland on November 25th. “Her production speaks for itself,” Coach Leflar said on the development of Taulelei’s game. “I’m just so excited for her to see the individual results.”
UMass will return home to the Mullins Center for their matchup against the UMass Lowell Riverhawks (0-8, 0-0 America East) on Sunday, December 10th at 12pm. This is the Minutewomen’s first game back in the Mullins Center since November 16th. The Minutewomen lead the all-time series history 5-1, and this will be the 7th time these two teams meet.
