The Massachusetts Minutemen (4-1, 0-0 A-10) fought off the South Florida Bulls (2-4, 0-0 AAC) 66-56 on Saturday afternoon. UMass now has the 2-1 lead in the all-time series history.
Saturday’s game was a very physical battle, with the Minutemen and the Bulls combined for 55 team fouls. UMass and South Florida also combined to attempt 68 free throws throughout the game. The game also included several different scoring droughts for both teams that were anywhere from four minutes to ten minutes during the game.
UMass only had two players score in double-digit scoring on Saturday afternoon. Josh Cohen led both teams in scoring 21 points, and Keon Thompson rounded out the double-digit scoring with 12 points. Matt Cross had 8 points, Jayden Ndjigue had 7 points, Marqui Worthy and Jaylen Curry both had 5 points, and Rahsool Diggins and Robert Davis Jr. both had 4 points to complete the scoring for the Minutemen.
The Minutemen will head on the road for their next game down in Maryland against the Towson Tigers (3-5, 0-0 CAA) on Wednesday at 7pm. The game will be available to watch on FloHoops. UMass leads the all-time series match-up 2-1, and this will be the fourth time these two teams play against each other.
