Minutemen Earn Second Win of the Season Against the Bobcats

The Massachusetts Minutemen (2-0, 0-0 A-10) earned their second win on the season against the Quinnipiac Bobcats (2-1, 0-0 MAAC) 102-81 on Monday night. This is the first time that UMass has hit the 100-point mark since playing Saint Joseph’s in the Atlantic 10 Tournament in March 2021.

UMass had six different players score in double digits in the win. Rahsool Diggins led both teams with 22 points and also earned his career high. Matt Cross had 19 points with 16 of them coming in the second half after dealing with foul trouble early in the first half. Daniel Hankins-Sanford had 13 points, and both Marqui Worthy and Josh Cohen had 11 points a piece. All of Cohen’s points came in the second half to help the Minutemen in scoring.

UMass’s first 12 points of the game all came from behind the arc and shot 11-28 from behind the arc for the rest of the night. This team feels comfortable shooting from behind the arc. The Minutemen scored more 3-pointers last night than their season average from last season.

The Minutemen will play their next game on Friday night against the Harvard Crimson (2-0, 0-0 Ivy League) at 7pm in the Mullins Center. This will be the 34th all-time meeting between UMass and Harvard, and the Minutemen lead the all-time series 19-14. The last time these two teams met was at Harvard last season, and UMass won 71-68.
