Richmond was the model of efficiency. Chris Mooney’s Spiders earned a big road win shooting 67% inside the arc and 41% for long distance. Their eFG mark of 65% was matched by an impressive 13% turnover rate. The Colonials had a big night from Joe Basimile, 29 points and seven rebounds. Brayon Freeman added 19 and James Bishop 13. Consistent contributions from Freeman, a freshman guard, could only help by easing some of the scoring load of Basimile and Bishop. Colonials committed just four turnovers for a superlative 6% TO rate. Nathan Cayo (19 points) led four double figure scorers for Richmond.

Game was closer than the final score indicated. It was basically a three possession affair for most of the second half before the host Bonnies went on a late run to open the gap to earn their sixth straight victory. Bona was led by Jalen Adaway’s game high 23 points. Osun Osunniyi contributed 14 points, 9 rebounds and brought the Reilly Center house down with his first career three pointer late in the game. The Mitchell’s, Makhi and Makhel, led Rhode Island with 14 and 12 respective points. Bona forced the Rams into a 16 turnovers (23%) rate, enjoying a 24-11 advantage in points off turnovers.

Tempo was a bit off from the visiting Hawks average of 68 possessions. Both teams committed only seven turnovers for an outstanding 11% TO rate. Billy Lange’s club took to the premier game, unfortunately hitting just 29% from long range. Saint Louis chose to attack inside, attempting most of their field goals inside the arc and converting at a 57% rate. Yuri Collins led Travis Ford’s Billikens with 17 points and 6 assists. Erik Reynolds of Saint Joseph’s tied Collins for game scoring honors with 17. Francis Okuro had a 15 point, 10 rebound double-double for the Billikens. Saint Joseph’s Taylor Funk pulled down a game-high 14 boards.
