Saint Louis led 43-33 at the half. Host Richmond tightened the defense and went on a 15-4 run over the first eight minutes after intermission to take the lead. Chris Mooney’s Spiders had their hands full trying to contain Francis Okuro of Saint Louis. Okuro scored 23 points adding a game-high 15 boards. Four of his rebounds were on the offensive end where Saint Louis held a 12-5 edge. On the opposite side, Tyler Burton, sharing game scoring honors with Okuro with 23 points, Jacob Gilyard with 15 and Nick Sherod, 13 with 3 three pointers, posed problems for Travis Ford’s Billikens. With nine seconds remaining and the Spiders holding a two point lead, Grant Golden went to the line. The Richmond senior, on Senior Night, missed both. On the ensuing possession Fred Thatch missed a shot jumper. Coming up with the key rebound, as time was expiring, was none other than Golden.
