Richmond All Over La Salle
Richmond, VA —
The Richmond Spiders improve to 15-4 (5-1 A-10) after defeating the La Salle Explorers 75-57 at the Robins Center. Spiders were led by a dominant performance from their big man, Grant Golden. The Winchester native scored 15 points in the victory. Tyler Burton had a solid night as well, as the freshman contributed 14 points & 9 rebounds. Richmond picked up where they left off at George Mason, as they shot 60% from the field in the win.
Gaining Confidence
The Spiders have done a good job of taking care of business in conference play, as they are defeating teams that they need to handily. They opened up conference play with a 32 point victory over Saint Joseph’s & now an 18 point win against La Salle. Tyler Burton has done an excellent job coming off the bench for the Spiders, and is really showing his playmaking ability. When he is on the floor, get the cameras ready. Jacob Gilyard had a very Jacob Gilyard night, as he tallied 3 steals & 10 points in the Spider victory. Jake Wojcik has been another force off the bench, as he hit 3 triples and finished with 11 points. It’s hard not to be beaming with confidence after a dominant performance like this one.
What’s Next for Richmond?
Next for the Spiders is the one that everyone has been waiting for. The #7 Dayton Flyers pay a visit to the Robins Center this Saturday night at 6:00. What an opportunity for Richmond, as they are currently listed as “Next 4 out” according to Bracketology. A win vs a highly regarded Dayton team could go a very long way in determining their tournament fate come March. If you haven’t made it to the Robins Center this season, now is the time. Get loud and let your presence known on Saturday. As always, stay up to date on all things Richmond Spiders on Twitter @AustinDaisey11 & @A10Talk. We will see you ALL on Saturday Spider Nation!
