Spiders Suffer 2nd Loss of Season

Richmond can’t hold off the Highlanders

Washington D.C. –

The Richmond Spiders (10-2) fall to the Radford Highlanders (4-7) today in the nation’s capital 73-58 .  Richmond couldn’t find an answer on defense when it came to containing Cle’Von Greene, who scored 19, including going 6-7 on 3-pt shots.  The Spiders struggled from deep and just couldn’t get anything to fall.  They went 7-23 from deep and 11-15 from the charity stripe.

Bright Spots

Nick Sherod didn’t exactly light up the scoreboard, but he did knock down 2 three-pointers, which should bode well for his confidence.  With Alabama coming up next, then conference play around the corner, it is important for him to find his stroke if Richmond wants to be competitive in league play.  Tyler Burton continued to show his athleticism and energy in today’s loss.  Burton finished the night with 8 points.  He will be an important role player for the Spiders down the stretch.

What’s Next?

Richmond will now head to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide (6-5) on Dec. 29 at 6:30 on the SEC Network.  This will be the Spiders final non-conference game on their regular season schedule, before hosting Saint Joseph’s to open up A-10 play.  I hope all of you have a Happy Holiday and I can’t wait to get back to what I enjoy doing the most, which is covering Richmond for all of you.  See you on December 29th Spider Nation!
