Richmond vs Boston College: Preview

Austin DaiseyBy Austin DaiseyNovember 29, 2019No Comments2 Mins Read

Spiders are back in action

Now that we are all stuffed with turkey and other Thanksgiving goodies, Richmond basketball is returning.  The Spiders take on the Eagles of Boston College on Saturday at 2:30 (NBCSN) at the Robins Center.  Richmond remains unbeaten at home (4-0).  The Spiders are returning from a successful 2 days in Brooklyn against two teams form Power-5 conferences. They defeated Wisconsin, and also put up a good fight vs the Auburn Tigers.  We are still awaiting some more injury news on Grant Golden.  He rolled his left ankle with under 3:00 to play in their contest vs Auburn.  The Spiders are really going to need him healthy if they want to make a run at the A-10 this season.

Boston College

The Eagles currently sit at 121st in the Kenpom rankings with a 4-3 record.  They are recently coming off a loss at home to a fellow A-10 team, in Saint Louis, and have lost 2 straight.  While watching the BC-SLU game, I pointed out that Richmond will need to be weary of Boston College guard, Derryck Thornton. He leads the Eagles in scoring, averaging 16.4 ppg.  Jay Heath has hit the most 3-point shots for Boston College, going 12-23 all season.  Steffon Mitchell leads the Eagles in rebounds (9.1), steals (2.1), and blocks (1.4).  Forcing the ball out of the hands of these 3 will be vital for the Spiders success.

Prediction

Coming off of some impressive performances in front of a nationally televised audience, I see the Spiders handling this Boston College team.  Richmond will get hot once again from behind the arc, igniting Chris Mooney’s squad.  With all of this being said, I’m going Richmond 88-Boston College 79.  Be sure to follow along during the game on @A10Talk, @AustinDaisey11, and on our forums at www.a10talk.com.  See you Saturday Spider Nation!
