What he did
Eric Williams Jr. made significant strides in his sophomore season with the Dukes. While there was more scoring to go around in 2018-19 compared to the prior season, and we didn’t see Williams Jr.’s numbers jump that much, he became a much better player on defense, was more mature and the team leader, and also shot the ball better from the floor. Eric Williams Jr. didn’t have to score 30 points a night for Duquesne to win a game this year thanks to Sincere Carry among others, but the sophomore was always a crucial rebounder. Williams Jr. dropped 40 points though in Chaiftez Arena this season, duking it out with Tramaine Isabell for the scoring record in that building. Duquesne had a very nice season in the progression to hopefully making the NCAA Tournament soon.
What he’ll do
Eric Williams Jr. unfortunately announced his intentions to transfer and will be playing the rest of his career at Oregon. This came as one of the more surprising transfers this offseason, as Williams Jr. seemed like a good fit under Dambrot and co. Regardless, the Dukes will have to find a way to make up for his presence, and that won’t be easy. Williams Jr. is progressing as a great all-around basketball player, and we wish him luck in his next step as a basketball player.
