Welcome to A10 Talk’s postseason Top 25 player countdown where we’ll be breaking down the best players in the Atlantic 10 this past year, as voted on by our staff. Each day, we’ll release a new article as we unveil our list. Today, we start with #19 Lamarr Kimble of Saint Joseph’s.

What he did

It’s been a tumultuous career for Lamarr Kimble in terms of injuries, as the Saint Joseph’s guard has had his season end early twice since arriving on Hawk Hill in 2015. Starting the regular season, Kimble played in just his second game since February of 2017. The junior guard got off to a hot start in non-conference play where he dropped 31 points in a close loss to West Virginia. He’d follow that up with 31 against Illinois Chicago, 29 against Princeton, 35 against Villanova, and the game-winning bucket to beat a feisty Loyola Chicago team at the Palestra. Suffering yet another injury, Kimble’s contributions were limited in Atlantic 10 play, but he was key in a few wins down the stretch, including a first-rounder over Duquesne in the A-10 Tournament. A seasoned player, Kimble was great at getting to the free throw line where he knocked down more than 80% of his attempts in league play.

What he’ll do

Kimble is yet another name on the outgoing Atlantic 10 transfer list this season. This comes as little surprise after the school parted ways with Phil Martelli. While the league as a whole is seeing a decent number of players transfer out, Saint Joseph’s has been hit the hardest. Charlie Brown is going pro, and Kimble is transferring with Jared Bynum and others. Kimble will play his final season with the Louisville Cardinals where he should be a major contributor. The Hawks were lucky to have Kimble around on Hawk Hill for as long as they did, and it was a bummer he had to deal with countless injuries.
