Welcome to A10Talk’s series of Atlantic 10 Bracketology. Throughout the year we’ll be providing updates on where teams stand in regards to making the NCAA Tournament. Lets take a look at this week’s edition.
Locks
VCU (23-6, 14-2)
Taking the conference by storm in a down year around the league, VCU is the A-10’s only lock to make the NCAA tournament. In fact, the Rams are the only A-10 team with realistic at-large hopes. Projected as a nine seed according to bracketmatrix.com, VCU should be able to relax on Selection Sunday. Currently riding a 10 game win streak, the Rams finish the season at George Mason then return home to play Saint Joseph’s. Should VCU win its final two regular season games and go on to win the conference tournament, the Rams could climb as high as a seven seed. This would allow VCU to avoid potentially facing a No. 1 seed in the second round. That said, the Rams should remain comfortably in the tournament field even if they drop a game or two; and that, as always, is the most important priority.

All other 13 teams
With Davidson and Dayton both losing must-win games last week, the A-10 looks like a one at-large bid league. First the Wildcats dropped a clunker by double-digits at La Salle on Wednesday night; then the Flyers fell at home against Rhode Island in overtime. Both losses were bad enough to eliminate Davidson and Dayton from realistic bubble conversations. Nevertheless, both of these teams, along with the likes of Saint Bonaventure, Saint Louis, Duquesne, and others, have solid chances to win the title in Brooklyn. Should any team besides VCU take home the A-10 championship, the league will keep its multi-bid streak going for at least another year.
