Atlantic 10 Bracketology – March 12, 2019

Welcome to A10Talk’s series of Atlantic 10 Bracketology. Throughout the year we’ll be providing updates on where teams stand in regards to making the NCAA Tournament. Lets take a look at this week’s edition.

VCU (25-6, 16-2)

With conference tournament week finally upon us, VCU is the only A-10 team not losing any sleep. Regardless of what happens in Brooklyn, one thing is for certain: the Rams are going dancing. Putting together a solid non-conference resume and running through the A-10 en route to the regular season title, VCU is currently looking at an eight seed in the NCAA tournament. To be exact, the Rams average an 8.24 seed according to the 87 brackets compiled on bracketmatrix.com.

Winners of 12 straight games, VCU shows no signs of slowing down. If the Rams go on to win the A-10 championship, they should move up to the six/seven seed range. As I’ve mentioned previously, this would be ideal as it allows VCU to potentially avoid facing a No. 1 seed in the second round. No matter how the Rams perform in Brooklyn, though, VCU fans can rest assured knowing their name will be called on Selection Sunday.

Everyone Else

With the at-large chances of Davidson, Dayton, and Saint Louis all fading into the distance, the A-10 will be a one-bid league baring an upset of VCU in Brooklyn. While the Flyers, Wildcats, and Billikens seem like the favorites to win the title (aside from VCU), St. Bonaventure is a team playing its best basketball of the season right now. A starting lineup mixed with veteran seniors and rising young-guns, the Bonnies head to Brooklyn with a lot of momentum and the No. 4 seed. If the A-10 wants to keep its multi-bid streak alive, a team not named VCU must take home the title on Sunday.
