PITTSBURGH, pa — The Duquesne Dukes took on the Penn State Nittany Lions on Wednesday night. In what was their final “Goliath” game of non-conference play, the Dukes ultimately fell to Penn State, 73-67.

The end was particularly frustrating for the Dukes, as a controversial foul call (block) on Michael Hughes led to a verbal altercation between Dukes head coach Kieth Dambrot and the referees, with the game tied 67-67. Dambrot argued that the call should have been a charging call on Penn State forward Lamar Stevens. Dambrot was ultimately ejected from the game and the Dukes assessed a “double technical,” giving Penn State four free throws, plus the two which wer awarded due to the foul. Rasir Bolton took the four free throws for the two technicals that Dambrot was assessed and Stevens took his two from the foul, giving the Nittany Lions the 73-67 lead.
