Dayton lands 6’8″ wing Frankie Policelli

Grant KellyBy Grant KellyApril 24, 2018No Comments2 Mins Read

Dayton’s five open scholarships slimmed down to four Monday night as Frankie Policelli announced his commitment to the Flyers. One of the nation’s top remaining players in the class of 2018, Policelli is a 6’8″ small forward out of New Hartford, New York. A three-star recruit and top 10 player out of New York, Policelli had quite the list of offers to choose from. Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Syracuse, and Maryland all had high interest in and offered the talented prospect. Six other A-10 teams also extended scholarship offers. In the end, though, after visiting Dayton on April 13th, Policelli decided to join Anthony Grant and the Flyers.

Policelli played this past season at Long Island Lutheran high school and for the New York Jayhawks AAU team. Dayton redshirt freshman Obadiah Toppin also played for the Jayhawks two seasons ago. With a unique combination of height, athleticism, and versatility, Policelli has a chance to become a standout player at Dayton. A wing player with Policelli’s height certainly could take the Atlantic 10 by storm. Plenty of work remains to be done, but a player like Policelli could be a key piece in getting the Flyers back to the NCAA tournament.
