Game of the Day: George Mason vs Davidson
Both 1-1 in conference, and both coming off close and hard fought wins, the Patriots and Wildcats will look to extend themselves to a 2 game win streak as they begin to get deeper into A-10 play. Both teams had their stars step up in there last games, especially George Mason, who saw Otis Livingston II go off for a 33 point night against Massachusetts most recently. Let’s take a closer look at this one.
Davidson has struggled in true road games so far this season. They are just 1-5 away from home, and they will hope to change that trend today. On Wednesday they were very fortunate to pull out the victory over a struggling Billikens team. They were down by 11 at half, and a key to this one will be to get off to a better start. Aldridge, Gudmundsson, and Grady have all done a great job this year, but they have had little scoring production from the rest of the team. Just 54 and 58 points in their first two conference games (and that’s against two of the bottom half teams), is definitely not where the Wildcats would like to be right now as a team.
For George Mason, they open up a 3 game home stand with this game. Livingston II played his best game of the season over UMass, and the Patriots will be hoping that he can continue that through the rest of the season. Add Jaire Grayer with a high-scoring Livingston II, and the Patriots are quickly becoming a scary team to play, especially considering that the conference (for the most part) is very even.
These are two teams that are a few plays away from being 0-2 right now in conference. Now, they have the chance to stand 2-1, and based on how things are going in the Atlantic 10, every game is becoming more and more important. The guards matchups should be very even in this one, but Peyton Aldridge should swing this one the way of the Wildcats. Goanar Mar will have his hands full trying to go against him, and it will be a matchup nightmare for the Patriots all game.
My Prediciton: George Mason 59, Davidson 69
