Atlanta Hawks sign Tyler Cavanaugh to two-way contract

Grant LabedzBy Grant LabedzSeptember 11, 2017No Comments1 Min Read

The Atlanta Hawks announced a two-way contract on Wednesday, signing Tyler Cavanaugh and Josh Magette. The 2017-18 season will be the first NBA season allowing two-way contracts, and the rule necessitates that both players have four-or-fewer years of NBA experience. According to the Atlanta Hawks, a two-way player can expect to a play a majority of his time with the team’s G-Leguae affiliate, but he can also spend up to 45 days with the Atlanta Hawks’ professional team.

Cavanaugh averaged 18.3 points and 8.4 rebounds per game as a senior with George Washington. He was named to the All-Conference first team, and he led the Colonials to a 6th place finish in the Atlantic 10. Cavanaugh played with the Atlanta Hawks in the Summer League, and as a result of his efforts, he’s going to have a chance to play with them on the collegiate level.
