The matchup of David(son) verses Goliath is back again in 2017-18, and the Wildcats get to face the Tar Heels on a neutral court this time. Davidson has faced UNC each of the last 4 seasons, but only 1 of those contests has been on a neutral court. The rest have been in Chapel Hill. While the Wildcats haven’t been able to beat the Tar Heels during this series, they’ve come quite close. Davidson forced overtime in Chapel Hill before falling 97-85 to the Tar Heels in 2013. Last year’s contest at UNC featured a Wildcat comeback in which Bob McKillop’s squad had its deficit within 3 in the final minutes. Bottom line: Davidson has battled with the Tar Heels before.
UNC will play Davidson on December 1st in a neutral site game at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, per a source. Part of multi-year series.

According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, the game will be held at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte on December 1st, meaning the Wildcats should have a pretty decent representation. Davidson returns star player Peyton Aldridge along with a number of improving seniors, but it’s going to take a lot to beat the 2017 National Champions. North Carolina could very well be a Final Four contender for a third straight season. Davidson will have an enormous opportunity to not only pull a huge upset, but to boost its RPI with this contest as well.
