VCU’s Mo Alie-Cox signs pro football contract with Indianapolis Colts

Mat Shelton-EideBy Mat Shelton-EideApril 20, 2017No Comments1 Min Read

VCU may not have a football team, but that didn’t stop graduating forward Mo Alie-Cox from signing a deal with the Indianapolis Colts today.

The A-10 All-Defensive team selection worked out for 30 teams in Richmond last week, then followed that up with several individual workouts around the country including one with the Indianapolis Colts that ultimately proved to be the right fit for the 6’6 260 big man.

Being five years removed from high school, Alie-Cox was technically draft eligible for the NFL’s 2016 Draft, making him a free agent and immediately eligible to sign with an interested NFL team. He’ll join a Colts team with one basketball to football convert already, joining former Miami Hurricanes hooper, Erik Swoope.

Alie-Cox becomes the second Ram to sign an NFL contract with a pro team. In 2007 former guard Jesse Pellot-Rosa signed with the NY Jets before being cut from the team after trying to make it as an undrafted free agent.
