Mike Rhoades and the VCU Rams got some bad news on Saturday afternoon, as 4 star recruit Lavar Batts Jr. decided to back out of his commitment with VCU and recommit to Kevin Keatts and North Carolina State. As one of VCU’s best incoming recruits, Batts was expected to make an immediate splash and play serious minutes at the point guard position his freshman season. Though the Rams have already retained Marcus Santos-Silva and Sean Mobley, they’re really going to miss what Lavar Batts Jr. could’ve provided. Nevertheless, VCU still has one year left with Jonathan Williams at the point, and the Rams recently extended an offer to 2017 point guard Jamari Wheeler who has still yet to make a decision. Mike Rhoades will have his work cut out for him next season.
Former VCU commit Lavar Batts has committed to NC State, per his Twitter page. Heck of a get for Kevin Keatts.
