2017 forward Greg Calixte commits to George Mason

Grant LabedzBy Grant LabedzApril 12, 20171 Comment1 Min Read

The Patriots got good news on Wednesday, landing Mount Vernon big man Greg Calixte for next season. The 6’8″, 230 lb. power forward will add size and depth to this George Mason roster. Calixte is a 2 star recruit who had a variety of offers, including those from Atlantic 10 teams La Salle and St. Bonaventure.

6-foot-8 @RENShoops and Mount Vernon big man Greg Calixte has committed to George Mason, he tells me. Great get for Dave Paulsen.

Greg Calixte will help fill a gaping hole in George Mason’s frontcourt. Without Jalen Jenkins or Marquise Moore, the Patriots will lose a lot of power down low, especially on the glass. He and freshman forward Goanar Mar could see a lot of time at the 5 next year, as George Mason will be without a true center. Calixte becomes the third player from the Class of 2017 to commit to the Patriots, and they still have 2 spots left to fill.

    Two things:

With Calixte’s commitment, we now have three centers: Relvao, Temara and Calixte.

Goanar Mar will not play the 5 at Mason. He is 6-7, 185 pounds and will be used primarily on the wing. He could play the 4 if Paulsen wants to go small.
