VCU’s Mike Rhoades keeps commitment from 2017 recruit Marcus Santos-Silva

Grant LabedzBy Grant LabedzMarch 27, 2017No Comments1 Min Read

Just a few days after Sean Mobley announced that he’d be staying at VCU, even after the hiring of new head coach Mike Rhoades, 2017 forward and VCU commit Marcus Santos-Silva said he’d be doing the same. The 6-8, 250 pound forward from Taunton, Massachusetts committed to VCU back in July and will not stray from that commitment. Santos-Silva is one of four incoming freshmen for the Rams next season.

VCU recruits deciding to stay onboard despite the departure of Will Wade speaks volume to this program. Clearly, Mobley and Santos-Silva committed to VCU and not to Will Wade. Also, Mike Rhoades has done a tremendous job retaining these recruits and putting trust in newcomers and returning players. With a solid core of upperclassmen and an impressive group of freshmen, VCU is going to be just fine next season.
