Tribute to Tyler Cavanaugh and Matt Hart

Daniel FrankBy Daniel FrankMarch 15, 2017No Comments2 Mins Read

As a tribute to George Washington’s two departing seniors, let’s take a trip down memory lane and look back on some highlights from the careers of Tyler Cavanaugh and Matt Hart.

Tyler Cavanaugh

This shot is the most recent, but definitely a classic. Cavanaugh from the tip of the capital dome, that summed up perfectly GW’s unbelievably hot start from the field against A-10 regular season champion Dayton.

Are you kidding me? Cavanaugh from WAY downtown! pic.twitter.com/ung5h1ntkP

Another one from this season, this is the foul that Cavanaugh drew while shooting a three. He made all three ensuing free throws with just 0.9 left on the clock to give the Colonials the win.

Here's a replay of the foul on Cavanaugh with 0.9 left. Unreal finish to an amazing game. #RaiseHigh pic.twitter.com/cjZP8Gxv1A

This is my personal favorite shot by Tyler: the pick-and-roll three to give GW a four-point lead with a minute left against Florida in the NIT Quarterfinals.

This is still my favorite Cavanaugh memory. Hoping for more postseason magic this year! #RaiseHigh pic.twitter.com/1aAMzIa5wL

Tyler’s bucket to open the scoring against Virginia: also know as the play that made me into a believer. There was high hopes for Cavanaugh when he arrived in Foggy Bottom, but I’ll be honest: I was skeptical. This was GW’s first basket in their upset win over #6 Virginia, and from that moment on, I was 100% onboard the Cavanaugh bandwagon.

Matt Hart

This is one of two shots that really stand out to me: this three to end that half against Dayton that capped off one of, if not the best half of GW basketball I have ever seen.

You knew this had to be on the list: Matt’s three from WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY downtown against Valpo in the NIT Finals last year.

Thank you Tyler Cavanaugh and Matt Hart!
