Atlantic 10 Tuesday Preview: Saint Joseph’s hosts George Mason

Grant LabedzBy Grant LabedzJanuary 10, 2017No Comments2 Mins Read

We have just one Atlantic 10 game on our slate this evening, but it could definitely be a good one. The Hawks will look to take down George Mason at home and pick up their third conference win. The Patriots have other plans.

George Mason vs. Saint Joseph’s | 7 ET | Saint Joseph’s -4.0

The Hawks faced tough news once again on Monday. Freshman Lorenzo Edwards will miss the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury. Though he has been seldom used this season (just 4 minutes), it’s another example of the Hawks’ injury woes. Shavar Newkirk, star guard and leading scorer, is also out for the rest of the year. Despite this, the Hawks are trying to battle through the pain. They’ve taken down George Washington and Fordham in Atlantic 10 play but got crushed by Rhode Island as well. George Mason has lost 2 of its first 3 to start conference play, but the Patriots have a nice win over Massachusetts and a very manageable schedule moving forward. This should be a great game between the two teams. If James Demery can play like he did against Fordham (career-high 25 points), this one could easily go to the Hawks. The Patriots will have to get sophomore Otis Livingston II going. He went 0-5 from range against St. Bonaventure. My Pick: Saint Joseph’s -4.0

Grant’s Picks Record: 6-4-2
