With no scholarship point guard on the 2017-18 roster, Anthony Grant’s first task as Dayton’s new head coach was to find a floor general. Less than two months into his coaching tenure, it looks like Grant has done just that. Jalen Crutcher, a 2017 point guard out of Memphis, Tennessee, announced Saturday morning via Twitter that he will play college basketball at the University of Dayton.

247 sports ranks Crutcher as a three-star point guard and the No. 6 player out of the state of Tennessee in 2017. At 6’3″, Crutcher is a dominant defensive guard who shows a lot of upside in the other areas of his game as well. Crutcher originally committed to Chattanooga before decommitting and eventually signing with Dayton. The addition of Crutcher helps fill the Flyers’ need at the point guard position, which was their main roster concern entering the 2017-18 season.
