George Washington to face Georgia in the first round of the 2016 CBE Classic

It was reported on Wednesday by CBS Sports that George Washington would be facing Georgia in the first round of the 2016 CBE Hall of Fame Classic. The field was originally announced on May 17th, and you can read about next year’s holiday tournament right here. After playing the Bulldogs in the first round, the Colonials will go on to face either Kansas or UAB in the championship or third place game.

Kansas will play UAB and George Washington will face Georgia in the first round of the 2016 CBE Classic, sources told @CBSSports.

The Bulldogs finished 20-14 overall last season and ended up losing in the 2nd round of the NIT to Saint Mary’s. Georgia will look to be a dangerous team next season as it returns its two top scorers in J.J. Frazier and Yante Maten. The two both averaged upwards of 16 points per game last season. This opening round game should be a challenge for the Colonials who lose a lot of talented players to graduation this offseason. Nevertheless, Tyler Cavanaugh and Yuta Watanabe will be back to try to lead this team to the NCAA Tournament.
