Forward Derrick Woods leaves St. Bonaventure

Josh SvetzBy Josh SvetzJuly 19, 2016No Comments1 Min Read

Bonnies fans received some interesting news this evening when sophomore forward Derrick Woods announced on Twitter that he was leaving the school.

Last year, Woods played in 30 games for the Bonnies, averaging 3.5 ppg and 2.4 rpg.

The former Pennsbury forward started as a true freshman, but lost playing time half-way through the season when the now healthy Jordan Tyson was reintegrated into the rotation.

From there, Tyson and Woods split the time, until Woods ended up as the starter for the remainder of the season after a loss to La Salle.

Woods is looking at a few schools, but he has not decided where he will be playing yet.

With Woods gone, the Bonnies will have to rely on senior transfer David Andoh and Syracuse transfer Chinonso Obokoh to handle the paint.

Incoming 6’7 freshmen Josh Ayeni and 6’10 Amadi Ikpeze may also rotate in.

We’ll have an article up this week on how this affects the Bonnies going forward and what it could mean for the distribution of minutes at the forward and center positions.
