There’s no question that Rhode Island will be a high-level team heading into next season; the Rams return 4 of their top 5 leading scorers from last year, and that doesn’t even include E.C. Matthews who’s coming off a torn ACL that sidelined him for the 2015-16 season. Though it’s still way too early to call, some major sports networks are already placing Rhode Island high in their rankings.

CBS Sports has Rhode Island as high as 15th in the nation heading into the 2016-17 season. ESPN’s recent polls had the Rams at 21 while NBC Sports and Sports Illustrated had them at 19th and 25th. Though pre-season rankings are all just speculation, it is nice to see the A-10 getting some recognition before the season starts. Rhode Island has a case to win the Atlantic 10 this coming season, but there are certainly a lot of teams that will be in the hunt this year.
