La Salle to play Villanova at the Palestra in the 2016-17 season

Grant LabedzBy Grant LabedzJune 14, 2016No Comments2 Mins Read

It was reported by CBS Sports on Tuesday that La Salle would play Villanova at the Palestra in the 2016-17 non-conference season. This matchup between the two cross-town rivals is a return game from last year’s meeting at the Pavilion. The Palestra houses annual games between the Philadelphia Big 5 including La Salle, Villanova, Saint Joseph’s, Temple, and Penn. Last year, the Explorers fell to Penn 64-80 in the Palestra. The matchup between these two teams will either be on December 6th or December 7th.

La Salle’s home game against Villanova next season will be played at the Palestra, source told @CBSSports. Date will be 12/6 or 12/7.

The Wildcats crushed La Salle 76-47 last season thanks to 13 made three pointers. This year’s Explorer team, locked and loaded with incoming talent, will seek to take down the giant of the Big 5 in Villanova. With Josh Hart and Kris Jenkins leading the way for this Wildcat team, it’s likely that Villanova will be a top team in the nation yet again. Win or lose, this will be a great matchup for the Explorers before they try their hand at the Atlantic 10 Conference.
