Josh Ayeni (2016) commits to St. Bonaventure

St. Bonaventure got some great news on Sunday when 2016 PF Josh Ayeni decided that he’d be playing with the Bonnies next season. Ayeni is a 6’7″ 200 pound forward who will add some much needed depth to the Bonnies’ growing frontcourt. He’ll join fellow freshman Amadi Ikpeze and and Syracuse transfer Chinonso Obokoh as the big men in the paint. Ayeni graduated from Impact Academy in Fort Washington, Maryland, and should help the Bonnies be a threat in the A-10 for a second straight year.

Check out a quick highlight reel of Ayeni playing ball. From what it looks like, Josh Ayeni is a big dude with a similar body to that of Dion Wright. It looks like he thrives off the dribble, creating layups or jumphooks in the lane after spinning off his defender. That being said, he’s more than capable of popping mid-range jumpshots, so he could be a very difficult player to guard at the collegiate level. This kid could be a solid player right off the bat for Mark Schmidt and his Bonnies.
