George Washington to play in 2016 CBE Hall of Fame Classic

The field for the 2016 CBE Hall of Fame Classic college hoops tournament was released today, and the Colonials will be participating. The annual college basketball preseason tournament will be held at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Along with the Colonials, Kansas, Georgia, and UAB will be the teams in the event. Semifinal games will be played on November 21st while the the championship game will be played on November 22nd.

Last year’s champion was North Carolina, the team that would end up losing in the championship game to Villanova. The Tar Heels beat Northwestern in the final game. Kansas won this tournament in 2012 when it was ranked in the nation, and the Jayhawks will be the likely favorites to take the title once again. If the Colonials get a chance to play Kansas in the tournament, it will be a great RPI boost early in the season. George Washington is trying to rebuild after losing key seniors in Joe McDonald, Alex Mitola, Kevin Larsen, and Patricio Garino. The Colonials are 0-3 all time against Kansas, 1-1 against Georgia, and 1-2 against UAB.
