Each week, A10 Talk’s staff ranks each team in the Atlantic 10 conference (1-14) based on where they believe each team places overall. Each team’s ranking is averaged, and A10 Talk creates a compiled ranking to represent the site. 13 different contributors vote in each week’s rankings. 1. Dayton Flyers (Avg: 1.17)
The Flyers surge back into the top spot after a very solid finish to the regular season. Dayton got past Richmond on the road and finished the season with a home win over VCU in overtime. The Flyers finish the regular season 14-4 in conference play and 24-6 overall. Dayton takes the top seed in Brooklyn and will play its first game on Friday against the winner of Fordham and Richmond.
2. VCU Rams (Avg: 2.00)
VCU falls back into the 2 spot after going 1-1 on the week. The Rams won a solid home game against Davidson but then fell on the road to Dayton in an overtime battle. They finish the regular season 14-4 in conference play and 22-9 overall. The Rams grab the 2 seed in Brooklyn and will play their first game on Friday against either Rhode Island or Massachusetts.
3. St. Bonaventure Bonnies (Avg: 3.00)
St. Bonaventure moves up into the 3 spot this week after winning both games it played. The Bonnies took down St. Joseph’s in Rochester and finished the season with a road win over Saint Louis. They finish the regular season 14-4 in conference play and 22-7 overall. The Bonnies grab the 3 seed in Brooklyn and will play the winner of Davidson vs. Duquesne/La Salle on Friday.
4. St. Joseph’s Hawks (Avg: 3.83)
St. Joseph’s falls back into the 4 spot this week after losing both games it played. The Hawks lost a tough neutral site game to St. Bonaventure and then had a bad home loss to Duquesne. They finish the regular season 13-5 in conference play and 24-7 overall. The Hawks have the 4 seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament and will take on the winner of George Washington vs. George Mason/Saint Louis on Friday.
5. George Washington Colonials (Avg: 5.00)
George Washington stays in the 5 spot this week after the Colonials won 1 of the 2 games they played. They took down George Mason at home but lost to Davidson on the road. George Washington finishes the regular season at 11-7 in conference play and 22-9 overall. The Colonials are the 5 seed in Brooklyn and will play the winner of George Mason vs. Saint Louis on Thursday.
6. Davidson Wildcats (Avg: 6.00)
Davidson stays in the 6 spot this week after winning 1 of the 2 games it played. The Wildcats lost on the road to VCU but turned around and got a good home win over George Washington. They finish the regular season 10-8 in conference play and 18-11 overall. The Wildcats will be the 6 seed in Brooklyn and will face the winner of Duquesne vs. La Salle on Thursday.
7. Rhode Island Rams (Avg: 7.00)
The Rams stay in the 7 spot this week after they went 1 in 2 in the games they played. They won at home over Massachusetts but lost on the road to Fordham. Rhode Island finishes the regular season 9-9 in conference play and 17-14 overall. The Rams grab the 7 seed heading into the Atlantic 10 Tournament and will face off against Massachusetts on Thursday.
8. Richmond Spiders (Avg: 8.50)
The Spiders remain in the 8 spot this week despite losing both games they played. Richmond lost at home to Dayton and then on the road to George Mason. The Spiders finish the regular season 7-11 in conference play and 15-15 overall. They’ll snag the 9 seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament and have a second round matchup with Fordham on Thursday.
9. Fordham Rams (Avg: 8.83)
The Rams assert themselves in the 9 spot this week after winning both games they played. Fordham beat Duquesne on the road and then returned home to take down Rhode Island. The Rams finish the regular season at 8-10 in conference play and 17-12 overall. They’ll be the 8 seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, and they’ll play Richmond on Thursday.
10. Duquesne Dukes (Avg: 9.67)
The Dukes fall back into the 10 spot this week despite having their 8 game losing streak snapped. Duquesne lost at home to Fordham but won on the road over St. Joseph’s. The Dukes finish the regular season at 6-12 in the conference and 16-15 overall. They’ll be the 11 seed in Brooklyn where they’ll have a first round matchup with La Salle on Wednesday.
11. Massachusetts Minutemen (Avg: 11.33)
Massachusetts moves up into the 11 spot this week after winning 1 of the 2 games it played. The Minutemen lost on the road to Rhode Island but bounced back with a home win over La Salle. Massachusetts finished the regular season 6-12 in conference play and 13-17 overall. They’ll be the 10 seed in Brooklyn, and they’ll have a second round matchup with Rhode Island on Thursday.
12. George Mason Patriots (Avg: 12.17)
The Patriots stay in the 12 spot this week after winning 1 of the 2 games they played. George Mason lost on the road against George Washington but bounced back with a home win over Richmond. The Patriots finish the regular season 5-13 in conference play and 11-20 overall. They’ll be the 12 seed in the A-10 Tournament where they’ll face Saint Louis on Wednesday.
12. Saint Louis Billikens (Avg: 12.83)
The Billikens fall back into the 12 spot this week after losing both games they played. Saint Louis lost on the road to La Salle and then at home against St. Bonaventure. The Billikens finish the regular season 5-13 in conference play and 10-20 overall. They’ll be the 13 seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, and they’ll play George Mason in the first round on Wednesday.
14. La Salle Explorers (Avg: 13.67)
La Salle stays in last place this week as it went 1-2 in the games it played. The Explorers took down Saint Louis at home but then lost on the road to Massachusetts. They finish the regular season 4-14 in the conference and 8-21 overall. They’ll be the 14 seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament where they’ll take on Duquesne in the first round on Wednesday.
