Each week, A10 Talk’s staff ranks each team in the Atlantic 10 conference (1-14) based on where they believe each team places overall. Each team’s ranking is averaged, and A10 Talk creates a compiled ranking to represent the site. 13 different contributors vote in each week’s rankings. Be sure to check out last week’s power rankings right here. Here are this week’s power rankings.
1. Dayton Flyers (Avg: 1.00)
The Flyers keep the top spot this week after a couple of very close wins over some solid conference opponents. Dayton was able to outlast Duquesne at home and then go on the road to beat Rhode Island. The Flyers move to 11-1 in conference play and 21-3 overall. They’ll try to keep it going this week when they play St. Joseph’s on the road on Wednesday and St. Bonaventure at home on Saturday.
2. St. Joseph’s Hawks (Avg: 2.25)
St. Joseph’s surges into the 2 spot this week after grabbing a very impressive victory. The Hawks went on the road and crushed George Washington; they also easily managed to get past La Salle this past weekend. They’re now 10-2 in conference play and 21-4 overall. This week, St. Joseph’s will have a huge home matchup against Dayton on Wednesday and then they’ll play on the road against Davidson on Saturday.
3. VCU Rams (Avg: 2.75)
VCU falls back to the 3 spot this week after suffering a very bad loss to one of the worst teams in the conference. The Rams lost to UMass on the road but then bounced back with a win against Saint Louis at home. They’re now 10-2 in conference play and 18-7 overall. This week, VCU gets Rhode Island at home on Tuesday and Richmond at home on Friday.
4. St. Bonaventure Bonnies (Avg: 4.00)
St. Bonaventure moves up into the 4 spot this week after winning both of the games it played. The Bonnies took down Fordham on the road in overtime and then beat George Washington at home. They’re now 9-3 in conference play and 17-6 overall. They’ll play on the road against La Salle on Wednesday and then on the road against Dayton on Saturday.
5. George Washington Colonials (Avg: 5.00)
George Washington drops back into the 5 spot this week after losing both games it played. The Colonials got killed at home by St. Joseph’s and then lost on the road to St. Bonaventure. George Washington now stands at 7-5 in conference play and 18-7 overall. They’ll try to bounce back when they play at Duquesne on Wednesday and at home against La Salle on Sunday.
6. Rhode Island Rams (Avg: 6.00)
The Rams move up into the 6 spot this week after going 1-1 in the games they played. They were unable to outlast the Flyers at home, but they were able to get a nice win over George Mason earlier in the week. Rhode Island now stands at 6-6 in conference play and 14-11 overall. This week, the Rams will play at VCU on Tuesday and at home against Duquesne on Saturday.
7. Davidson Wildcats (Avg: 7.50)
Davidson drops into the 7 spot this week after going 1-1 in the games it played. The Wildcats took down La Salle at home but lost on a buzzer beater on the road against George Mason. They’re now 6-6 in conference play and 14-9 overall. They’ll have a tough slate of games this week when they host Richmond on Tuesday and St. Joseph’s on Saturday.
8. Richmond Spiders (Avg: 8.00)
The Spiders remain in the 8 spot this week after winning both of the games they played. Richmond took down Saint Louis on the road and Fordham at home this past week. The Spiders are now 6-6 in conference play and 14-10 overall. They’ll go on the road to face off against Davidson on Tuesday and then stay on the road to play VCU on Friday.
9. Duquesne Dukes (Avg: 8.50)
The Dukes remain in the 9 spot once again despite losing both games they played this past week. Duquesne lost to Dayton on the road and then lost a tough overtime battle at home against Massachusetts. The Dukes are now 5-7 in the conference and 15-10 overall. This week, they’ll host George Washington at home on Wednesday, and then they’ll play Rhode Island on the road on Saturday.
10. Massachusetts Minutemen (Avg: 10.25)
Massachusetts shoots up in the rankings this week after getting two huge wins. The Minutemen took down VCU at home and then went on the road and stole one against Duquesne. Massachusetts is now 4-8 in conference play and 11-13 overall. This week, the Minutemen will travel to play Fordham on Wednesday and then return home to host George Mason on Sunday.
11. Fordham Rams (Avg: 11.00)
The Rams drop into the 11 spot after losing both games it played this past week. Fordham lost at home to St. Bonaventure and then lost on the road to Richmond. The Rams sit at 3-9 in conference play and 12-11 overall. This week, they’ll play Massachusetts at home on Wednesday and Saint Louis on the road on Saturday.
12. George Mason Patriots (Avg: 11.75)
The Patriots stay in the 12 spot this week after winning 1 of the 2 games it played. George Mason lost to Rhode Island on the road but bounced back with a home win over Davidson. The Patriots are now 3-9 in conference play and 9-16 overall. They’ll play Saint Louis at home on Wednesday this week and Massachusetts on the road on Sunday.
13. Saint Louis Billikens (Avg: 13.00)
The Billikens fall back into the 13 spot this week after losing both games they played. Saint Louis lost at home to Richmond and then on the road to VCU. The Billikens have now fallen back to 3-9 in conference play and 8-16 overall. They will try to bounce back this week when they face off against George Mason on the road on Wednesday and then Fordham at home on Saturday.
14. La Salle Explorers (Avg: 14.00)
La Salle remains in last place, this week, as the unanimous pick once again. The Explorers failed to get road wins against Davidson and St. Joseph’s. They’re now just 1-11 in the conference and 5-18 overall. They’ll try to bounce back this week, but things won’t get much easier once again. The Explorers take on St. Bonaventure at home on Wednesday and George Washington on the road on Sunday.
