Each week, A10 Talk’s staff ranks each team in the Atlantic 10 conference (1-14) based on where they believe each team places overall. Each team’s ranking is averaged, and A10 Talk creates a compiled ranking to represent the site. 13 different contributors vote in each week’s rankings. 1. Dayton Flyers (Avg: 1.33)
The Flyers keep the top spot this week even though they lost both games they played. Dayton fell on the road to a very good St. Joseph’s team and then lost at home to St. Bonaventure. The Flyers move to 11-3 in conference play and 21-5 overall. Though still a definite lock for the NCAA Tournament, Dayton will try to rebound this week when it plays Saint Louis on the road on Tuesday and Rhode Island at home on Saturday.
2. VCU Rams (Avg: 1.67)
VCU moves up into the 2 spot this week after winning both games it played and regaining the conference lead. The Rams took down both Rhode Island and Richmond at home this past week. They’re now 12-2 in conference play and 20-7 overall. This week, the Rams will travel to play George Mason on Wednesday and stay on the road to face George Washington on Saturday in a very crucial game.
3. St. Joseph’s Hawks (Avg: 3.00)
St. Joseph’s falls back into the 3 spot this week even though it had a pretty successful showing. The Hawks took down Dayton at home but then went on the road and loss a shootout to Davidson. They’re now 11-3 in conference play and 22-5 overall. This week, St. Joseph’s will go on the road to take on Massachusetts on Wednesday and then return home to face Saint Louis on Sunday.
4. St. Bonaventure Bonnies (Avg: 4.33)
St. Bonaventure stays in the 4 spot this week after a very up-and-down series of events. The Bonnies lost a disappointing road game to La Salle but bounced back with their biggest win of the season, a road victory over Dayton. They’re now 10-4 in conference play and 18-7 overall. This week, the Bonnies will take on Duquesne at home on Wednesday and Massachusetts at home on Saturday.
5. George Washington Colonials (Avg: 4.67)
George Washington stays in the 5 spot this week after the Colonials won both games they played. They won on the road against Duquesne and then absolutely demolished La Salle at home. George Washington now stands at 9-5 in conference play and 20-7 overall. They’ll certainly have a difficult upcoming week when they play on the road against Richmond on Wednesday and at home against VCU on Sunday.
6. Davidson Wildcats (Avg: 6.00)
Davidson surges up into the 6 spot after a very good week that featured two wins. The Wildcats took down Richmond at home and then handed St. Joseph’s its first road loss of the season. They’re now 8-6 in conference play and 16-9 overall. This upcoming week, the Wildcats will host Rhode Island on Tuesday and then go on the road to take on Fordham on Saturday.
7. Rhode Island Rams (Avg: 7.00)
The Rams fall back into the 7 spot this week after they went 1-1 in the games they played. They lost on the road to VCU earlier in the week but then bounced back with a home win over Duquesne. Rhode Island now stands at 7-7 in conference play and 15-12 overall. This week, the Rams will play at Davidson on Tuesday, and then they’ll go on the road to take on Dayton on Saturday.
8. Richmond Spiders (Avg: 8.00)
The Spiders remain in the 8 spot this week despite losing both games they played. Richmond lost a narrow road game to Davidson and then failed to get a win over conference rival VCU on the road. The Spiders are now 6-8 in conference play and 14-12 overall. They’ll return home this week to take on George Washington on Wednesday, but then they’ll hit the road once more to battle with Duquesne on Saturday.
9. Duquesne Dukes (Avg: 9.33)
The Dukes stay in the 9 spot this week despite losing both games they played. Duquesne lost at home to George Washington and then lost a close road contest with Rhode Island. The Dukes are now 5-9 in the conference and 15-12 overall. This week, they’ll go on the road to take on St. Bonaventure on Wednesday and then return home to host Richmond on Saturday.
10. Massachusetts Minutemen (Avg: 9.67)
Massachusetts remains in the 10 spot this week after winning 1 of 2 games it played. The Minutemen lost on the road to Fordham but then managed to get a good home win over George Mason. Massachusetts is now 5-9 in conference play and 12-14 overall. This week, the Minutemen will have a tough slate of games as they host St. Joseph’s on Wednesday and travel to take on St. Bonaventure on Saturday.
11. Saint Louis Billikens (Avg: 11.33)
The Billikens move all the way up into the 13 spot this week after winning both games they played. Saint Louis won on the road in overtime against George Mason and then won a home game against Fordham. The Billikens are now 5-9 in conference play and 10-16 overall. They’ll have a tough upcoming week when they host Dayton on Tuesday and travel to take on St. Joseph’s on Sunday.
12. Fordham Rams (Avg: 11.67)
The Rams fall back into the 12 spot this week after going 1 of 2 in the games they played. Fordham beat Massachusetts at home but then lost to Saint Louis on the road. The Rams sit at 4-10 in conference play and 13-12 overall. This week, they’ll go on the road to face off against La Salle on Wednesday, and then they’ll return home on Saturday to take on the Davidson Wildcats.
13. George Mason Patriots (Avg: 13.00)
The Patriots fall back into the 13 spot this week after losing both games they played. George Mason lost to Saint Louis at home in overtime and failed to get a road victory over Massachusetts. The Patriots are now 3-11 in conference play and 9-18 overall. They’ll play VCU at home on Wednesday before going on the road to take on La Salle on Saturday.
14. La Salle Explorers (Avg: 14.00)
La Salle remains in last place, this week, as the unanimous pick once again. The Explorers did get a very good win this week though, as they took down St. Bonaventure at home; they’d then lose to George Washington on the road. They’re now just 2-12 in the conference and 6-19 overall. They’ll return home this week to take on Fordham on Wednesday and George Mason on Saturday.
