Game of the Day

George Washington Colonials 76, George Mason Patriots 70

Four Colonial starters scored in double-digits as GW rolled to a six-point victory over George Mason. It took a last minute close-out from the line, but George Washington was able to improve to 16-5 (5-3 A10) on the season. Kevin Larsen helped out his team with a double-double, going for 10 points and 11 rebounds in 35 minutes played, while Patricio Garino added a season-high 19 points for the Colonials.

George Mason led 31-29 at the half and were ahead as late as the 3:14 mark in the second half. They got a major contribution from Otis Livingston who scored 18 points and dished out 7 assists. This would have been the best win of the year by far for the Patriots, who fell to 7-14 (1-7 A10) on the season.

In terms of the bigger picture, this is a game that GW needed to win to remain in the forefront of the bracketology picture. The Colonials will likely sit at a 10-11-12 seed position when the projections come out tomorrow. They have a big week coming up when they take on Davidson and VCU.

Elsewhere in A-10 Action

St. Bonaventure Bonnies 84, Richmond Spiders 68

For a Richmond team that still had an outside shot at getting into the NCAA tourney conversation, this is a devastating blow. For the Bonnies, however, this could be a momentum-building win.

St. Bona’s Jaylen Adams and Marcus Posley combined for 44 points, accounting for over 50% of their team’s offense. As a team, they shot 50.0% from the field to Richmond’s 38.5%, while also hitting 40.0% of their three-pointers. The Bonnies also won the rebounding battle 40-34.

While neither team may have a great shot at the NCAA tournament, this is still a quality win for St. Bonaventure. At 13-5 (5-3 A10), they still have an outside shot at making some noise. They get a shot at St. Joe’s this week before they face SLU next Sunday.
