Game of the Night
Saint Bonaventure Bonnies 64 George Washington Colonials 57
Saint Bonaventure might have just brought themselves back into the conversation for the NCAA Tournament, with another key win Saturday. The Bonnies were led by Jaylen Adams, who scored all of his 19 points in the second half, as he put his team on his back to lead them to victory.
After a low scoring first half, the offense picked up in the second, and Saint Bonaventure built a lead as large as 13 over several occasions. GW cut the deficit to five midway through, before a 11-3 run stretched the lead back to double-digits. The Colonials made their final run in the waning minutes of this one, drawing as close as four with under 30 seconds left. Yuta Watanabe missed the front end of a one-and-one which would have made the Bonnies’ lead just one possession, but Saint Bonaventure hit free throws at the other end to seal it.
In addition to Adams’ 19 points, the Bonnies were lead by Dion Wright who had 12 points and six rebounds, while Marcus Posley and Denzel Gregg had 11 points each. Patricio Garino led George Washington with 21 points, while Tyler Cavanaugh added 17 points, and Kevin Larsen had 7 points with 11 rebounds.
This game saw two team heading in different directions as the Bonnies now have a firm hold on 4th place in the Atlantic 10, with a two game lead on GW, who is likely to be stuck in the 5-seed in the A10 Tournament, meaning the Colonials will have to win an extra game in order to win the A10 Championship. Saint Bonaventure would only need to win three games to win, as a top-4 seed, while GW would have to win four games.
